No Internet: Day 1

These posts were written while I was on vacation.  I’m back now, and obviously these are being posted after the fact! Enjoy!

So, as most of you know, I’m on vacation.  My family is staying at this resort in Wisconsin called Fox Hills Resort.  Everything’s very nice and we’re all enjoying ourselves so far!  We are staying in part of a villa—we have 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen, two pull-out couches in the living room, and a huge table for the dining room.  The pool (which is located right across from our villa) is huge!  We ate at the resort restaurant for dinner and the food and service were both great.

I only have one complaint.

NO INTERNET.

The only places with internet are the main hotel (which does not include us since we are in a villa) and the recreation center, which is only open during select times.  Since I’m spending time with my family, and they would whine and complain prefer it if I spent time with them, I will only be getting on the internet to check my e-mail, and that might only be every other day.  Hell, this would even get posted until I get back.

So I decided I would catalog my long, hard days off of the computer like a prisoner scribbles on toilet paper or a lone survivor of a plane crash on a remote, uninhabited island uses every scrap of paper to tell their story. I’m totally in that position right now!

So, here we go…

Day One:  7/11/10

The day was long and hard.  I’m not sure how long I’m able to survive.  I guess you never know what you’re going to miss until it’s gone…even the simple act of checking my e-mail would give me such hope right now.

I think I may be addicted to the internet.  I never thought that would happen; I used to get bored browsing the web, and would have to get off.  But now…I’m sweating, hands shaking, all I can think about is getting on facebook!

At this point, the thing I’m most worried about is sweepstakes.  I enter roughly 300 sweepstakes a day, and I simply won’t have time to go to the Rec Center for two hours to enter them all.  I really wish my parents had told me there was no internet, as I could have planned ahead if I knew!

Well, I kind of figured that I wouldn’t have the time to get online all the time just to enter sweepstakes and do other random things.  But not having the option there is much worse.

Honestly, as of right now, I don’t miss it so much.  I still want to check my e-mail, but I can live with only checking it once a day or every other day.  I will miss blogging; but hey, I’m kind of doing that right now!  Sure, it won’t be posted until I get back, but I’m writing it out, anyway.

So yeah, I’m worried about later on this week, but I have distractions, like a 4-year-old nephew and 1-year-old niece chasing me around everywhere.  Not that I’m complaining! I love the little guys.

We’ll see how I’m surviving tomorrow…
